BREXIT – PART 3 – LEAVERS ARE RIGHT WINGERS- A DISHONEST PORTRAYAL

For some reason our media now is generally more intolerant of people veering to the right rather than the left in politics such that right wing has bad connotations and left wing does not. (In the writers’ view neither has bad connotations). So, there is a clear campaign by some Remain MPs and institutions to portray Leave voting MPs and voters as excessively right wing, and so bad. This an intellectually dishonest portrayal, a lie, based on no evidence.

How is it particularly right wing or bad –

To vote for an independent self-determining country in charge of its own laws?

To want to be divorced from a Union moving to ever greater federalism and fiscal unity?

To decide immigration by potential contribution rather than by country of origin?

To want to control one’s country’s trade arrangements with others?

To want one’s national courts to be supreme rather than courts controlled by others, especially when one’s own courts and justice system are the most respected in the world?

Other than the EU, most if not all democratic countries of the world have these features. Indeed, would not the above ideas be consistent with being a centrist or even left of centre or liberal? So, the portrayal is evidently dishonest.
