The heart of the City of London contains few quality hotels, and every hotel is expensive. The Ned is quality. By Bank underground station, it is easily accessible and central for going elsewhere in the City, West End or Canary Wharf. Once a major office of a large bank it is imposing but inside totally transformed. But as well as being a hotel it houses various bars and 10 restaurants under the Ned banner. It is a busy meeting place for city workers and public areas offer little quiet and privacy.
This was a 3 night stay, convenient for back to back meetings. The bedroom was small but comfortable with every modern amenity (phone chargers et al) but not a room to spend time in. The bathroom was excellent. Since the Ned is relatively new, the fittings are all modern and in good condition and there is some interesting artwork.
The hotel service is of a high standard. Except that because the hotel is part of a bustling centre, getting a breakfast table as a hotel guest is not a given and it was annoying to have to negotiate for one.
The food in the restaurants is ok but not great, and of course expensive. But not really any more than the rest of the City of London.
The checking in and out procedure was reasonably swift.
Not a place for a family holiday, but an excellent environment for a business trip.
